So, I’ve been looking into literary magazines who accept poetry submissions lately. The first time I sent submissions to a card company called Blue Mountain Arts which was about a year ago. I waited to get a response and sure enough about four months later I received a letter in the mail. It was a rejection letter, but I was expecting that since it was my first try. It was still a little disappointing at the time. The funny part about it was that I had been waiting to hear back from the company and my husband usually checks the mail so one day I asked him if he had seen anything from the card company, and he just kind of put his head down because he had already read the rejection letter. He had known for a week about it but didn’t have the heart to tell me because the day he checked the mail was my birthday and he didn’t want the news to ruin that for me.
So that was my first attempt at sending submissions away. Now I am going to give it another try. I just mailed four poems to a literary magazine called Rattle. It said in the guidelines it could take anywhere from 1 to 6 months to hear back about submissions. So we’ll see how it goes this time around.
Turn on the music, take a trip through the past.
Turn it up loud,
Watch the world disappear.
Let the sound carry you back through time.
Music is the time machine, enjoy the ride.
Music is the drug getting you high.
Music is the medicine healing your soul.
Each note a stepping stone,
A pathway to the past,
Opening a gate of flooding emotions.
Making memories seem like yesterday.
Warm summer nights, and cool Autumn days.
Turn up the sound, and you’re on your way.
Dancing through galaxies near, and far.
Mesmerized by stars.

Unspoken love from your gaze to mine.
Now, I’m hypnotized.
No words could come close to describe this feeling inside.
Longing, wanting,
Needing, pleading.
All spoken in our eyes.
With a deep connection.
A pulling force that draws us close together.
Reading each others thoughts every time we lock eyes.
The world around us is a blur, as if frozen, and suspended in time.
Silent,
Slow motion,
All around us.
Seeing only each other, as all else disappears.
This unspoken love showing through our eyes.

I enjoy pencil drawing. I’m just a begginer, and enjoy the drawing videos on YouTube. I find them to be very helpful. This is my latest sketch.
What
Lies
In this
Unknown
World?
Curiosity taking
My hand
Leading
The way
Ahead.
We
Walk
Together
Through
Life,
Learning
Lessons
as
We
Go.
Trying to
Find change
In the bank
Of
Our heart’s.
Hope’s
Bright beacon
Guiding us
On our journey
Making all possible.

Fiery stars blazing in the midnight sky.
Gleaming brightly against the onyx of night.
Gazing up,
My mind set adrift.
Thoughts they wander in the quite still of night.
Sending me off on a voyage of dream.
Navigating stars,
Sailing ships through the midnight sky.
