Lighthouse keeper

There once lived a man John Vanhollen, who lived in Maine. The oldest of three. His father was a sailor at sea. Now age seventy-three he had short white hair, and a trimmed white beard. Stood 6’3, and was very thin. Always wore a navy blue hat with a white T-shirt, and blue jeans. Smoked a wooden pipe. For forty-two years he was the light house keeper. Guiding ships safely into harbor. He was never married, but fell in love once with a blue eyed girl, than she moved away. This old light house was all he ever had. It stood tall on no more than three acres of rocky land. Its stripes were red and white. Sadly one night John Vanhollen died in his sleep. A few weeks later a young man by the name Henry Anderson took over the position of the new light house keeper. While unpacking his things, Henry opened an old desk drawer. Inside he found a folded up letter, and it read, “she was the only thing I ever had, my one true love. I put my years, blood, and sweat into this lighthouse. I hope who ever finds this letter will do the same, and take care of her as I did” Henry folded the letter up, and placed it back inside the drawer. Years later Henry was now sixty-five. He was looking for a pen. When he opened the desk drawer he noticed a folded piece of paper had fallen to the ground. He picked it up, and read it again with more understanding than before. Like the old man, Henry had never married. And this lighthouse was all he ever had. He put all his years, blood, and sweat into the lighthouse guiding ships safely into harbor. After reading the letter, he folded it up again put it back in the drawer once more. With hopes that the next lighthouse keeper would find it. Like he had many years before, and take care of her like he, and the old man had.

The Garden

As I knelt down to pray one day, I heard the voice of a man, and he stuck out his hand. So without fear, I took his hand, and we walked through the land. As we walked we came to a garden filled with color so vivid, and bright, like nothing I had ever seen. There was also a wooden bench for which he asked me to sit. As I sat down, the man asked me if I wanted to stay, I said yes please. He looked at me, and smiled then said welcome home.

Storm clouds at sea

Ominous, blackened storm clouds were rolling near. This is not the sight, you want to see while being stuck out at sea. He thought to himself. Gale force winds started to move in. The once calm sea, was now tempestuous, the angry waves slammed port side, with tremendous force. The salty sea water drenching the deck, and all aboard. Just trying to maintain, and survive this violent storm. The ship being tossed about, like a bucking bull. Only this ride lasted longer then 8 seconds,it seemed to be an eternity. Finally the hell’s fury of the storm loosened, its death grip, it had had upon us. The sun could be seen peeking out from behind the charcoal colored clouds. And all was as it should be again.

Random thought here, something I have many of !!😄

How amazing is it that there’s so many different poems/stories? Hundreds of years worth all over the world? And everyday more are being written. It’s simply mind blowing! At least to me anyway. Ever wonder if we’ll run out of words? Sometimes I feel like its all been said, but then suddenly, a new idea comes to me. Completely amazes me!!

The best advice I ever received was “sure its all been said before, but not by you” That has stuck with me, I guess we all add our own uniqueness to our writing.

Wandering thoughts

Walking down a path which was worn into the overgrown earth. To her favorite spot, a dock overlooking a lake. In the Fall, she would walk down this path to sit on, the edge of the wooden dock. Mostly to gather her thoughts, read a book, or watch the amber leaves gently sail through the Autumn breeze, landing in the lake below. The water reflecting the brilliant painted leaves. Much like her mind reflected thoughts, she often pondered about life. The calm, quite of this peaceful place would ease her wandering thoughts.
